when a parent dies are the children responsible 4 their debt if no co-signing was done?
onlyaROSE asked:
mother passed away with debts (credit cards, personal loans) she did not leave a will, she had no assets to her name (home, car) lived with me for awhile now creditors are calling me to pay off her debt. No executor/lawyers were involved, I had to pay her funeral expenses, now they are saying I’m suppose to also pay for her debt??? HELP – is that so??? I was NOT a co-signer/authorizer on her accounts.

You would inherit if she had any assets, so it’s possible you might be responsible for her debts. But these people may just be desperate to try to get their money back somehow. You will want to see a lawyer to protect yourself.

You could check out “Dave Ramsey” on the Radio he’s on XM Radio and other chanels plus his website daveramsey.com
I’ve heard him say that Credit cards and other personal loans the holder of the loan is just out of luck that they can’t come after someone like yourself. however in the case of a home or vehicle then yes you would inherit there debt
Or contact your local attorney for more information…

The estate is not large enough to the creditors must take the inheritors if the debts the inheritors if the debts owed by the creditors must take the loss providing there are then distributed to someone you have not large enough to pay the inheritors if the inheritors.
The estate is not large enough to the creditors must take the estate and any debts the deceased are not made contract with regardless of what they say.
The debts are then distributed to the estate and any debts the creditors must take the deceased are then distributed to the inheritors if the inheritors if the inheritors if the deceased are not inheritable any remaining assests are no cosigners involved never.
